This provides a mechanism to derive new algorithms from known ones. In our configuration, a sequential block-iterative (SeqBI) version can be readily formulated from a simultaneous block-iterative (SimBI) version, and vice versa.

We introduce a general iterative scheme for image reconstruction based on Landweber's method. Experimental results for both real and synthetic data images are provided and compared to state-of-the-art schemes.

A conventional camera combined with an electrically tunable lens is used for image acquisition and does not require scale transformation or registration between the acquired images. Our method is performed without estimating the depth map or segmenting the in-focus regions. The approach is based on the reorganization of the acquired visual information considering a depth-variant point-spread function, which allows it to be applied to strongly defocused multi-focus image stacks. We propose a method for post-capture perspective shift reconstruction (in the x, y, and z directions) of a three-dimensional scene as well as refocusing with apertures of arbitrary shapes and sizes from an optimal multi-focus image stack. The convergence of optical imaging acquisition and image processing algorithms is a fast-evolving interdisciplinary research field focused on the reconstruction of images with novel features of interest. The experimental results show that the proposed method is more practical and effective compared with the relevant reconstruction methods. Specifically, the updated image in the iteration step contains the guidance image and the image obtained by the Landweber iteration, which makes the proposed method flexible. In this paper, we propose a filter-based Landweber iterative method by introducing the optimized relaxation strategy and the fast guided filter. It can be incorporated into the light field reconstruction process to improve the precision of the reconstructed results. As a fast and non-approximate linear-time method, the fast guided filtering has good edge-preserving smoothing properties. The relaxation strategies of the Landweber iteration are essential for both accelerating iterative convergence and decreasing errors. The Landweber iteration is a general method to find the least-square solution of the discretized linear system, which is widely used for solving such problem. The light field reconstruction aims to recover the 4D light field from the 3D focal stack, so it is a severe incomplete data reconstructing problem.
